Baggage
What you can carry, what it weighs, and what happens if it goes astray.
Checked baggage is included in every Likoma Airlines fare. Economy includes 23kg and Business 32kg. Likoma Club members receive an additional allowance from Silver tier upwards.
Cabin baggage is one bag plus a personal item that fits under the seat in front. The limits are 7kg in Economy and 10kg in Business. On the ATR the overhead bins are smaller, so larger cabin bags are taken at the aircraft door and returned to you on the airbridge or the steps.
Extra bags are cheaper bought in advance through Manage booking than at the airport counter — excess baggage is USD 3/kg domestic and USD 6/kg regional. Sports equipment travels at USD 35 per item, a bicycle at USD 40, and should be declared when you book so we can plan the hold.
Every bag is scanned at four points between check-in and the carousel, so if one goes astray we can usually tell you exactly where it is before you have finished asking. Report it at the baggage desk before leaving the arrivals hall and we will deliver it to your address at no cost.
Lithium batteries, power banks and e-cigarettes must travel in the cabin, never in the hold. Aerosols, sharp objects and liquids over 100ml belong in checked baggage.
